Real Madrid secure their first league win of the new 2010-11 season
Real Madrid have recorded their first league win of the new La Liga season. Real Madrid defeated Osasuna 1-0 at the Bernabeu with a goal from Carvalho. Real Madrid started the match with an attacking line-up and could have easily won by a much larger margin if it hadn’t been for the excellent saves from Ricardo.
Benzema, Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo started in attack for Real Madrid and it wasn’t long before the Argentinian striker had a few shots that strayed just wide of the goal. Casillas had little to do in the game as the Real Madrid defence dealt with most attacks that Osasuna managed to mount.
The teams went in at the break level but it didn’t take Real Madrid long to break the deadlock in the second half. A shot from Cristiano Ronaldo was saved by Ricardo only to have the ball deflected straight into the path of Carvalho who scored Real Madrid’s first league goal of the new 2010-11 season.
Despite Real Madrid continuing to create chances after the first goal, Osasuna played with a view of damage limitation and the game ended 1-0 to Real Madrid. The Real Madrid fans, who every year buy the new Real Madrid Home Shirt to show their support for the team were more than happy with the performance. They will be looking to the team and new head coach Mourinho to build on this performance and result in the coming weeks as they set out in search of their first league win in three years.
