Ronaldo is regarded by fans and players alike as one of the best footballers the world has ever seen. Despite the success he had at Manchester United and his popularity with the clubs fans on 26 June 2009 Real Madrid confirmed that Ronaldo would join them on a six-year contract. Ronaldo made his Madrid debut on 21 July 2009 when they played Shamrock rovers in a 1-0 win. Ronaldo became the first Real Madrid player to score in his first four La Liga appearances.
